IN MY BELLY
In My Belly

Intro

So much food in the world
yet hunger makes my belly twirl
Oh, Lord I need some food in my belly (2x) hmm

Verse 1
Ugh, I need some food in my belly
just enough to sustain me
my folks cannot afford to me on a dollar a day
everyday I go to bed hungry
like millions of children over the world
I'm starving so badly
I place a grain of salt on my tongue on daily
to satisfy for dietary inadequacy
I'm so severely underweight
my skin sticks to my bones
I'm anemic, weak, fatigued, sores on my lips
similar to a chronic alcoholic on the street
my stomach bloated, distended like a pregnant lady
I watch it grow thinking that it coulda been avoided
but like a powder keg, I feel like it's about to explode
Anyway, I wouldn't be the first or the last
victim to be swallowed by hunger on daily
I'd be one of many who never got to see their future
but if I grow up, I want to be a doctor or a lawyer.

Chorus
Oh Lord, I can't stand it when my stomach's growling
Oh Lord, I can't even smile cause my breath be reeking
Oh Lord, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, oh, whoah
Oh Lord, heyyyy I need some food in my belly

Verse 2
It's like a tsunami that never cease
every second my bros and sis decease
from hunger related causes
voices scream from hunger's dagger in many languages
even in those of the countries with the most resources
it's not just me or the kids from poorer countries
you see diggin' through thrash every time you're watching tv
many of us never get to reach our full potential,
cognitive, developmental, or intellectual
and it's sad cause a ton of food gets thrown away
in the meantime malnutrition casting our soul (s) away
I pray for the day I stop feeling like I'm fading away
cause every day it just feels like I'm fading away
man, at times, I tend to salivate like a dog
when I think about the flavor of a fresh gourmet
I vividly imagine the food passes from my mouth
my eosophagus and my stomach where it enters my intestines.

Chorus

Oh Lord, I can't stand it when my stomach's growling
Oh Lord, I can't even smile cause my breath be reeking
Oh Lord, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, oh, whoah
Oh Lord, heyyyy I need some food in my belly

Verse 3

(Jonny Lyrks)

I'm so hungry I haven't ate in 9 days
mom's working double shifts coming home late
drunk and not saying a word to me
all she does is kiss me then she goes to sleep
I'm starving so I ask the neighbors for a piece of bread
but they say that they don't do favors
this is major, I feel like Imma pass out
I watch people in my building take the thrash out
then I pick through it, trynna find something minor
but all I see is crack pipes and empty lighters
not a lick of food, I feel so confused
sometimes I wanna cry but I don't wanna lose
more weight, I look so skinny
you can see the bones and the sorrow that's in me
I'm malnurished please somebody tell me
why there's not an ounce of food in my belly.

Chorus
Oh Lord, I can't stand it when my stomach's growling
Oh Lord, I can't even smile cause my breath be reeking
Oh Lord, whoah, whoah, whoah, whoah, oh, whoah
Oh Lord, heyyyy I need some food in my belly (2x)

Prayer
Dear Lord, I hope you hear me cry

so I can cherish the greatest gift you ever gave me
so I don't hate or rely on those who live lavish
